So, I Guess You’re Wondering How This Blog Post Relates to New England?

Not only is Russ Irwin one of our favorite musicians and songwriters! He released a CD last year called “Russ Irwin: Get Me Home” that featured several great songs including “Manhattan” which was featured on RHONY Real Housewives of New York. This is a great bluesy piano tune ala Billy Joel style. Russ had heard about the old-time pianos that were at a friends studio in Hudson, NY and wound up recording the tracks there for the sound he longed for! THANK GOD HE DID!!!

Oh, but you’re looking for the New England connection, right? Well, Russ Irwin has been playing keyboards for 15 years for a little old band you might have heard called AEROSMITH! And by the way, he penned the hit “WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN LOVE” off the current AERO CD “MUSIC FROM ANOTHER DIMENSION“. The song that reached #7 on Japan Billboards was co written with the Demon of Screamin’ himself; Steven Tyler and producer Marti Fredricksen. NOT BAD, EH!!!

Well it gets better! Steven Tyler guests on two songs on Russ’s current CD on a brilliant, brilliant song we LOVE called “I MISS BEING LONELY” and “CRAZY TOO“. And Brad Whitford, Aerosmith’s other brilliant guitarist is featured in the song and video “Get Me Home“.

Not bad from a kid from Long Island who studied Music Business and Classical piano for two years at New York University and then attended the New School to study Jazz Piano for a year with Kenny Werner.

We highly recommend you listen to the CD there’s something there for everyone including the ballad “So Close to Heaven” and “Find the Light“.

BACK TO THE MUSIC….Russ has also toured with Brian Adams and Sting! Have you ordered his solo record online yet???? What is STOPPING YOU!!!! Oh yea, and for extra good measure, he has written songs for Foreigner, Meatloaf and The Scorpion’s. In 2006, he produced Clay Aiken’s, “I Want To Know What Love Is” on the hit record “A Thousand Different Ways“. Did we mention the Chris Botti connection? Are you kidding me..get your credit card out and buy the CD or RUSH Real Fast to ITUNES! Yes, Chris Botti appears on the record as well!

You can see Russ Irwin performing LIVE with AEROSMITH at the BOSTON STRONG Concert at The TD Garden in Mansfield, MA on Thursday, May, 30th.

In doing that, you wind up finding more things you really like, meet great people and help some people get exposure and grow their business.

Sunapee Cruises and Lake Sunapee holds a special place in our heart. Matter of fact, the Lakes Region town inspired us to create the blog in the first place to tell the history of this quaint town that people from Boston and New York used to take trains and steamships to visit. (See our first blog for history.) You see, after spending some years in New York, we were thrilled to find a place where the air is cleaner, the water is clearer and there’s magic in the trees if you haven’t heard!

NewEnglandBlogger spoke exclusively to Tim Fenton, manager at Sunapee Cruises about the up and coming 2013 season that will kick off Memorial Day Weekend on the lake, his 2 boats and the return of everyone’s favorite area dinner boat the MV Kearsarge.

So here’s the BIG NEWS! We are glad to report that the MV Kearsarge the floating restaurant will have its inaugural cruise Memorial Day Weekend on Monday, May 27th departing from the town dock at Sunapee Harbor at 6:30pm. Yes, the lakes region landmark that had taken on some water and damage as reported by WCBS-Boston and other news media outlets back in early January is being repaired and will be ready!

Whether you are a fan of the charm of the lake, the boat or the roast beef dinner buffet, fear not! Your MV Kearsarge is returning! The Dinner boat will sail Weekends thru Father’s Day at 6:30pm for it’s two-hour dinner tour. Then every day EXCEPT Monday thru Labor Day and then weekends only through October.

The MV Mt. Sunapee II a two-hour narrative boat tour will have its inaugural cruise on Saturday, May 25th at 2pm. These cruises will run Memorial Day Weekend on Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 2pm and then Weekends only through Father’s Day. Then daily through Labor Day Weekend when it returns to just weekends through October.

We encourage you to take the drive from wherever you are in New England or beyond! You’ll be glad you did! Take one or both tours! Walk the quaint harbor. Have a drink or a bite to eat at The Anchorage. Get ice cream at The Quack Shop a popular spot, located along the Sugar River. Visit the near by shops like The Harborside Trading Company, The Wild Goose Country Store and Deck Dock. Take a ride into the nearby towns of New London and Newport.

Depending on where you live make it a day trip or spend a night or two or longer! Rentals are available along the lake or nearby.

Oh yeah, make sure you hold on to your hat on the boat! ENJOY!

Recently, we spent Founders Weekend at Chatham Bars Inn and as usual had a wonderful time. From the Friday Nite Clambake at The Beach House Grill to a morning oceanside brunch at The Beach House Grill, to a Roaring 1920′s Great Gatsby Party complete with Cocktail Hour in the South Lounge and Dinner with a 20 piece orchestra in the Harbor View Room.

The hospitality at Chatham Bars Inn is by far the nicest we have experienced time and time again.

A complete buffet is served with their Lobster Bake with everything from fresh corn on the cob, potatoes, veggies, fish, steak, side dishes, salads, soup, oysters, shrimp, cheeses and many other side dishes. Including a complete desert table.

During July And August every Monday – Friday starting at 6pm Chatham Bars Inn serves their Clambake to make reservations or find out more click on the link at the top of this page.

Brunch was also served on Founders Weekend at The Beach House Grill. We walked the long buffet tables and choose some of our favorites that included Eggs Benedict, potatoes, bacon, fresh fruit, and a new favorite fresh fish with a apple-mango salsa that was soo good we had to try to make this at home ourselves. Of course we had Mimosa as what would any fantastic brunch be without a Mimosa or Bloody Mary.

There was plenty of beach time, relaxing on the patio off the veranda with the fantastic view and blue-green water that we experienced on this perfect blue sky day! We took a little nap before the Roaring 20′s Gatsby Party and enjoyed the view.

The Champagne and wine were flowing and we totally enjoyed the evening of fine cocktails, dinner and dancing and topped it off with a nitecap on the veranda! We can’t wait to go back!
